Asunafo North Municipal forms the base of the colonial Ahafo District, which was one of the first districts created in the present Brong Ahafo Region and which dates back as far as 1912. The municipal capital is Goaso. It shares common boundaries with the Asutifi District to the north and east, the Dormaa Municipal to the north-west and the Juabeso Bia and Sefwi Wiawso Districts in the Western Region to the west and south. Asunafo North Municipal is bordered to the south-east by Ashanti Region’s Atwima District.

The municipal assembly is very active in developing the communities under its jurisdiction, in spite of this, it still has a few challenges in meeting some of its demands.
The municipal is therefore calling on all stakeholders especially those with lineage from the area to support it socio -economically.
Areas needing urgent attention include Infrastructure for education,provision of potable water in the rural communitie, teaching field and agric. extension field.
The Business Advisory Centre (BAC) in collaboration with Government of Ghana (GoG) through the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly (ANMA), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and African Development Bank (AfDB) has trained 35 women in baking and confectionery at Ayomso in the Asunafo North Municipal of the Brong Ahafo Region.
ASUNAFO N: Basic school heads on 3 months probation In order to ensure good supervision and monitoring of all basic schools and also for the government to achieve its “Transformational Agenda”, the Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive has directed that all basic school heads should be put on period of 3 months probation.
ASUNAFO N: Assembly presents equipment to ISD The Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mohammed Kwaku Doku has on behalf of the Assembly presented Public Address System worth Gh¢2,300.00 to the Information Services Department at Goaso.
